Ruth Dretsch

Ruth Ann (Silbernagel) Dretsch, age 77 of Dent, MN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at her home. She was born August 28, 1940 in Perham, MN, to Arthur and Eleanor (Jaroszewski) Silbernagel. She was a graduate of Perham High School in 1958. She married Marvin Dretsch on April 29, 1961 at Sacred Heart Church in Dent.  They then had two sons, Mark and John. In 1972, Michael Silbernagel joined the family.

She worked for many years at Park Senior High in Cottage Grove, MN as a food nutritionist. She took pride in doing all the baking and filling in as a substitute head cook. She also was an active member of the Christian Mothers in Dent. Ruth truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: spending time with family and friends, golfing, bowling, going to casinos, camping and participating in variety of sports with the Huffer Puffers.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Eleanor Silbernagel; her brother Ronald Silbernagel; and her son John Dretsch.

Ruth is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Marvin; her sons Mark Dretsch of Woodbury, MN and Michael Silbernagel of Denver, CO; her sister Rose (Denny) Doll of Blaine, MN; daughter-in-law Brenda Dretsch; grandchildren Alec Mesenbourg of Stacy, MN, Jesse and Samantha Dretsch of River Falls, WI and Ronald Silbernagel of Silver Bay, MN; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dent. Visitation will resume from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by the Memorial Mass at 11:00 on Tuesday, June 5 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
