Steven Powell

Steven W. Powell, age 56, of Perham , MN , died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at his home.


Steven Powell was born in Portsmouth , VA , on September 25, 1952 , the son of Claude and Helena (Smith) Powell. A lover of music, Steve enjoyed good tunes from the 1950’s through today but Elvis was always his favorite. He had many special friends, young and old, and he loved joking with them and keeping up on the latest music and movies. A 25 year employee of Tuffy’s, Steve moved to Barrel O’ Fun in 2003 where he worked for the past six years. He rarely missed a day of work.



Steve met the love of his life, Mary Rose Pawlowski, and they got married in Florida on his 32 ^nd birthday in 1984. Steve and Mary were blessed with two sons, Frank and David, who share their father’s love of music. One of Steve’s favorite things was taking trips with Mary and the boys. He also enjoyed his nieces and nephews whom he adored.



Steve is survived by his wife, Mary, Perham, MN; and sons, Frank and David, Perham, MN; and sister-in-law, Leslie Powell; and nephew, Forest Powell.



Preceding Steve in death is his father, Claude, 1956; brother, Claude, 1999; and mother, Helena, who died a week before Steve, February 17, 2009 .



Steve was a very generous person. Over the past twenty years he sponsored two little girls through the Christian Children's Fund and when one of them lost their home to fire, he gave even more. Steve loved life; to the astonishment of many, he loved Minnesota winters; he loved a good joke; but most of all, he loved his friends and family. He will be missed by many.
