Terrance "Boots" Maring, Sr.

April 9, 1948 — December 5, 2022

Palisade, MN

Terrance William Maring, Sr., a.k.a “Boots”, 74, of Palisade, MN unexpectedly and tragically passed away on December 5, 2022 in Ottertail, MN.

Boots was born in Fort Yates, ND on the Standing Rock Reservation on April 9, 1948 to Helen (Kelly) Maring-Brown. At the age of two, Boots moved to Palisade to be lovingly raised by Tex and Olga Bullis. They nick-named him Boots when, as a toddler, he refused to remove his cowboy boots. He graduated from Aitkin High School with a three-way sports scholarship to Texas Tech, which he turned down because he didn’t want to leave the area.

Boots was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and later in life, golf. He had a variety of occupations. His favorite was being a test driver for Scorpion Snowmobiles. He also enjoyed his time as a bartender at the Cactus in Perham as well as the Municipal Liquor Store in Palisade.

Boots was first married to Helen Hasskamp, and then Deb Himmelright. He and Deb had two children, Kelly and Terrance Jr. He was married to Deb for almost 30 years and they remained good friends until his death.

Boots was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen, and all of his parents. He is survived by his children, Kelly Maring, and Terrance Jr. (Nicole) Maring; three grandchildren, Lily, Piper, and Steel; sister, Susan (Mike) Howe; niece, Michelle; and nephew, Ethan.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for the upcoming spring. We sincerely hope that anyone whose life was touched in some way by Boots, will join us.
