Theodore (Ted) Anthony Guck, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Stoney River Senior Living in Ramsey, MN.
Ted will be missed by many people. Always agreeable and quick with a smile, he would be the first person to volunteer if someone needed a hand. He made friends wherever he went, enjoying bingo and card games. He was most happy being around other people, whether it was meeting the “coffee clutch” at McDonalds or having dinner at the VFW.
Ted loved his church and Father George so much that while in his 80's, he and his brother, Herb became altar boys!
Ted was the firstborn child of Stephen and Lucille Guck, born on July 17,1932 on a farm south of Perham, MN. He attended St Henry's Catholic School for eight years and graduated from Perham High School in 1950.
Ted joined the US Army in 1953, after boot camp, he was stationed in San Francisco. He was honorably discharged in 1955. While in the Army, Ted met Evelyn Perala, who was also enlisted. They were married in San Francisco on January 1, 1955.
The couple moved back to Minnesota where they raised their four children, Mark, Constance, Michael and Lisa. They resided in south Minneapolis, a hobby farm in Waverly, northeast Minneapolis, and a hobby farm in Nowthen. They raised cattle, chickens, rabbits as well as having horses, dogs, cats, pigs and honeybees there.
Ted worked in the Twin Cities from 1955 until his retirement in 1988. He worked for Honeywell for 29 years. In 1988, he was honored with the Harry Long award for outstanding performance as a department supervisor. After retiring, Ted and Evelyn moved to a farm by New York Mills where they continued to raise cattle, and have horses, dogs, and cats. In 1997, they sold part of the farm and built a new home on the remaining land.
In May of 2012, Evelyn passed away at their home under Ted's loving care. He continued to live there until early 2022, when he decided to move to Fridley to be near his children.
Ted's hobbies included fishing, deer hunting, woodworking and farming. He spent many days at his cabin on Portage Lake fishing for bass. Ted was still hunting deer at 89 years of age.
Ted volunteered as a 4-H and Boy Scout Leader with his children and taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) classes for three years. When he moved to New York Mills he volunteered for 9 ½ years at the Perham Food Shelf.
Ted is survived by his children Mark (Karri) Guck; their children, Noah (Benjamin) Greenberg and Alexander (Kristina) Guck; great grandchildren, Rowan Greenberg and Baby Guck expected this year; Constance Bleecker, Michael (Kathy) Guck and Lisa (Tim) Hanson; brothers, James Guck and Herb Guck; sister-in-law, Joan Guck; family friend, Donna Nordin; numerous nephews, nieces, and other family members and friends.
