Thomas Pulford

Thomas Edward Pulford, "Tom" passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 in his home under the care of Lakeland Hospice. He was born January 20, 1925 to Louisa (Shen) and Edward Pulford in Perham, MN. He grew up at the Walker Lake home, rural Richville, MN. Tom attended elementary school, Amor Dist. 104 and graduated Perham High School in 1942. He joined the Navy December 7, 1943 as Seaman 1st Class and served in the South Pacific on the aircraft, Cape Esperance until he was medically discharged January 23, 1945. Tom started farming and on June 26, 1948 he married Doris Hardie. They continued farming until April of 1956 when they moved to San Bernardino, CA where he was in Civil Service work for Norton Air Base. After five years, they moved back to Minnesota. He did sheet metal work for a year before becoming manager of Wilcox Lumber Yard in Ottertail, MN. He was then transferred to the Peavy Lumber Yard in Perham as manager for nearly 20 years. He returned to doing sheet metal work for Esser's in Perham for several years before retiring.

Tom was a Master Gardener and a skilled wood craftsman building items for his children and grandchildren plus furniture for their homes. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially ice fishing. Another pastime was playing cards at the Richville Senior Center. Tom was an active member of Water's Edge Church in Henning, MN.

Tom was very proud of all his grandchildren and delighted to be a great-grandpa.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sylvia and Maxine; brother, Riley; grandson, Joshua Pulford; and daughter-in-law, Julie.

Surviving Tom is his loving wife, Doris; two sons, Rick and Todd (Debbie); daughter, Deb (Jim Morgan) of Orono, MN; three granddaughters, Jessica (Brian) Honer of rural Perham, Kelli (Cole) Bertils of Crookston, MN, and Katie (Chance) Nolte of Thayer, IA; three grandsons, Tom (Ali) of Colorado Springs, CO, Adam of Colorado Springs, and Jeffrey of Ft. Campbell, TN; one step-grandson, Justin (Rose) Morgan of Bellingham, MN; two sisters, Pauline Johnson of Erhard, MN and Nola Gail (Cliff) Comfort of Oakdale, MN; five great-grandchildren, Elijah and Natalie Pulford, Cord and Kayden Nolte, and Nolan Bertils; along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22 beginning at 12:30 followed by the memorial service at 2:00 PM at Water's Edge Church in Henning, MN. Burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Amor Township.

Memorials preferred to Lakeland Hospice and Water's Edge Church in Henning.
