Violet Rick

Violet, known as "Vi" was born on June 11, 1924 in Corliss Township, MN. She was the daughter of Herman and Pauline (Wanderi) Brasel. She grew up on the farm and attended the country school in Corliss Township and then Perham High School.
Vi was baptized, confirmed, and united in marriage with Bill Rick at St. John's Lutheran Church of Corliss on October 10, 1942. They were blessed with two children, a son Jerry, and a daughter, Sheila.
In her younger years, Vi enjoyed doing church work such as taping ministry, doing communion ware, visiting shut-in members, work groups, and also enjoyed participating in the circles.
Vi and her husband worked hand-in-hand with the cattle in their dairy herd, the field work, yard and garden, and the large flower garden. She crocheted many beautiful afghans for the family. Her last joy was that of making quilts, especially the quilt with the family pictures on it.
Violet is survived by her son, Jerry, Andover, MN; and daughter, Sheila (Richard Ma) Carlson, Barnesville, MN; two grandsons, Brian (Kristina) Rick, Harris, MN, and Todd (Renee) Rick, Andover, MN; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Rick) Bahe, Champlin, MN; four great-granddaughters, Greta and Gina Bahe, Kendra and Alexa Rick; one great-grandson, Mylen Rick; one brother, Lawrence (Dorothy) Brasel, Perham, MN; two sisters-in-law, Ella Rehbein and Nettie Carow, both of Perham, MN; four nieces and four nephews.
Preceding Violet in death are her parents, husband, Willie; three sisters, Evelyn, Edna Herndon, and Mathilda Derke; one niece and one nephew.
