Walfred M. Nickelson, age 81 of Perham, MN died Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Perham Health. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM on Thursday, March 20 followed by the memorial mass at 10:30 AM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, rural Perham. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
Walfred was born on January 19, 1933 in Minneapolis, MN to Martin and Dorothy (Campeell) Nickelson. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in Japan during World War II. Walfred was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Betty" Dufner on April 4, 1960 in Minneapolis. Walfred worked for Ford Motor Company in St. Paul for 30 years where he was a painter.
Surviving Walfred is his wife, Betty; his sisters, Shannon (Lee) and Margaret; along with many other relatives and friends.
Preceding Walfred in death are his parents; his brother, Bob; and his nephew, Marty.
