Wayne Selander

Wayne Lyle Selander, age 84 of New York Mills, MN died Saturday, June 6, 2026 at his home.

He was born on August 3, 1941, to Arnold and Anna Selander in Homestead Township. He grew up on the family dairy farm. While Arnold worked off of the farm, Wayne and his brother, Alden ran the farm. Wayne graduated from New York Mills High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army and completed training at Fort Ord, California. Wayne served out the remainder of his enlistment in Germany.

After his military service, Wayne married Donna Wanderi in 1971. Wayne and Donna continued dairy farming on the family farm for 24 years. They were blessed with three children, Teresa, Scott, and Nathan and eight grandchildren. Wayne and Donna moved to New York Mills in 2006, where they have lived for the last 20 years.

Wayne is survived by his wife Donna; daughter, Teresa Karels; sons, Scott and Nathan (Shona); grandchildren, Teresa's two children, Lexi and Logan, Scott's two children, Carson and Cameron and Nathan and Shona's four children, Dylan, Riley, Noah, and Isaiah.

Preceding Wayne in death were his parents; siblings, Howard and Lucille Selander, Dorothy and Walter Krantz, Maurice and Darlene Selander, Merle and Robert Marden, Carol and Phil Marden, Ben and Millie Polk and Alden Selander.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills, followed by a Graveside Service at Greenwood Cemetery in New York Mills.
