Dolly Dickerson

March 14, 1939 — January 18, 2022

Perham, MN

Dolly Kay (Miller) Dickerson was born March 14, 1939, in the Maplewood Township area, to her parents, Carl and Violet (Bugbee) Miller. She was baptized and confirmed in Fergus Falls, MN, where she also attended high school.

She met Robert “Bob” Dickerson in the neighborhood when they were teenagers. They dated after he returned from the service and later married on August 11, 1957, at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Their first home was in Fergus Falls where they started their family. From there they moved around MN going from Austin, then with their seven children to Duluth, and then to Dent, MN. In the summer of 1986, they opened their vacuum and carpet cleaning business in Perham, MN and in 1987 moved into Perham. They ran their business together for many years until she retired just a few years ago. After a battle with cancer, she passed away under the care of Knute Nelson Hospice surrounded by family and with her husband of nearly 65 years by her side.

Dolly enjoyed playing cards and games, always ready with a pouch of change. She took pleasure in counting cards and taking your money, but she was a graceful loser, too. She was always ready for a good cup of coffee or an occasional cocktail. She liked camping, talking around the bonfire, and trips to Mexico. She loved get-togethers with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and time with friends. She taught her children and grandchildren how to be frank, have a good time, the spirit of competition, the gifts of humor and sarcasm, to cook and clean, and most of all love, selflessness, and the importance of family. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Violet Miller; brothers Doyle and Lester Miller; sisters Marlys Oblinger, Glenice Hansen, and Janice Miller; brothers-in-law Maurice Hansen, Bill Walkup, and Joe Oblinger; and sisters-in-law, Beverly and Joyce Miller.

Surviving Dolly are her husband, Robert Dickerson; children, Monte Dickerson (Jane Harris), Kristi (Kevin) Linnell, Jeff (Sharon) Dickerson, Todd (Jane) Dickerson, Julie (Mike) Engelking, Bobbi (Doug) Adams, and Jodee (Jon) Ebeling; her sister Joanne Walkup; her grandchildren, Brianna Dickerson, Travis (Luz) Dickerson, Cory Dingman and Beau Segars, Kristopher Linnell (Sonya Pia), Jesse Linnell, Shaun (Katlyn) Linnell, Kodi (Dillon) Hartfiel, Jacob, Justin and Stephanie Dickerson, Skyler and Avery Dickerson, Amanda (Travis) Dollinger, Taylor Engelking (Corey Martell), Brady Adams (Megan Haverkamp), Ashley and Brandon Adams, Madison and Zachary Ebeling; and great-grandchildren Tanner, Lucas, Tamsyn, Silas, Nathan, Jaycie, Laila, Declan; along with many nieces and nephews and several close friends.
