Harold was born September 26, 1932 in Moorhead, MN to Harold H. and Pearle (Miller) Locken of Comstock, MN. Because of the divorce of his parents, Harold spent the most part of his first five years living with the Miller family in Comstock. In 1937, his mother married Basil Sherman of Detroit Lakes, MN where Basil was employed by the Northern Pacific Railroad. The family lived in Detroit Lakes until 1942, then moved to Battle Lake, MN until 1945 and then to Frazee, MN. These frequent moves were caused by Basil's promotions with the Northern Pacific.

Harold attended Frazee High School and in 1949 he enlisted in the US Air Force. After attending aircraft tech schools he was stationed in Japan for the duration of the war in Korea. He served as an aircraft mechanic and flight crew member. After being honorably discharged in 1953, Harold worked as an aircraft mechanic and flight crew member with the North Dakota Air National Guard from 1954-1956. He then moved to Los Angeles, CA and continued the aircraft trade with Lockheed Corporation.

On April 12, 1958 Harold was united in marriage to Betty Baker and first settled in Palmdale, CA where he was still employed by Lockheed. On March 7, 1959 their son Mark was born and shortly after the family moved to Sacramento, CA where Harold was employed by Aerojet General Corporation. On November 4, 1963 their daughter, Michele was born. In 1966, the family packed their belongings and moved to Minneapolis, MN.

Harold began his career in Minnesota working for Honeywell Corporation and Northern States Power as an instrumentation technician. In 1968, he joined FMC Corporation, starting as an instrumentation technician and retiring in April of 1989 as a business unit manager.

After retirement, Harold and Betty lived in the Minneapolis area until 1996. They then decided to venture to a smaller setting, finally choosing Perham.

Their two children continue to live in the greater Minneapolis area and Harold and Betty were blessed with two grandchildren, Tony and Sarah. The proud parents are the couple's son, Mark and his wife, Jackie.
