Rose Marie (Schoeneberger) Prietzel passed away April 11, 2020 at The Estates at Roseville Care Center after a long battle with dementia.
Rose Marie was born December 11, 1942 in Perham, MN to Martin and Mary (Truitt) Schoeneberger. She was the fourth of seven siblings (five sisters and a brother). She graduated from Perham High School in 1960 and attended College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN, where she majored in mathematics. She graduated in 1964 and began teaching in St. Paul and then worked for The Pillsbury Company in Minneapolis until 1974. She then went to Sydney, Australia to work in information systems for one year. Upon returning to Minnesota she lived and worked in Eden Prairie, MN for GELCO which later became General Electric Fleet Services.
Rosie loved to travel and spend time with family and friends alike. She spent many summers visiting the shores of Little Pine Lake enjoying the antics of several nieces and nephews. Rosie was generous and independent and always willing to join in on a trip, in a game, or in a conversation.
On May 11, 2002, she married her long-time friend, and partner Eugene Prietzel. They loved to travel, play golf and downhill ski together. They spent many years working with blind and hearing-impaired skiers. In their later years they loved to travel by going on 12 cruises and enjoying their cabin in Wisconsin, always with family and friends.
Rose Marie was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Prietzel; her parents Martin and Mary Schoeneberger; her sister Margaret Schoeneberger; her brother Joseph Schoeneberger; and brother-in-law Alan Priebe. She is survived by her four sisters Agatha (Bob) Woessner, Judy Schoeneberger, Jeanne (Will) Nelson and Evelyn Priebe; many nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews along with Eugene’s nephews and niece Scott Ferry of Riverview, FL, Steve Ferry of Mount Calvary, WI and Pam Roddy of Huntington Beach, CA who were attentive to Rose to the end of her life.
Internment was held on April 23, 2020 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. She has now joined her husband, Eugene. Due to the COVID-19 virus and the restrictions on gatherings at the cemetery, it was a private event.
Due to the virus and in the interest of public safety, smaller gatherings for the Celebration of Life are to follow.
